The sneaker that pioneered colour gradients as a staple in lifestyle footwear is returning with a fresh interpretation of the pair that started it all.
Sean McDowell’s revolutionary Air Max Plus burst onto the scene with its striking yellow-to-orange fade — a design inspired by the glow of morning sunlight — which set the tone for colour use in Nike’s performance line and beyond.
Over the past 20+ years, the Tuned Air icon has cemented its place globally, with Nike frequently revisiting the gradient theme, often blending multiple hues to push the design forward. For this latest release, the brand goes back to the roots of the 1998 original, this time channelling the “Sunrise” aesthetic onto the external cage. From top to bottom, the fiery exoskeleton transitions from yellow to deep orange, echoing the heat of molten lava — a finish that also appears across the midfoot.
This edition of the Air Max Plus is set to release during the Spring/Summer 2025 season in Australia for $250 AUD. Scroll ahead to check out the official images.
