Nike Air Max Plus “Monarch” Brings Desert Sunset Gradients to the Iconic TN

The Nike Air Max Plus continues to prove why it remains one of the brand's most recognisable silhouettes, with another gradient-heavy colourway joining the lineup for 2026. While recent attention has largely focused on the Air Max 95 and Air Max 90, Sean McDowell's iconic TN quietly continues to deliver fresh releases that stay true to its roots.

Dubbed the Nike Air Max Plus "Monarch," this latest edition draws inspiration from desert landscapes and the colours seen between dusk and dawn. The upper features a flowing gradient that begins with rich Monarch brown tones around the heel, reminiscent of rolling sand dunes, before gradually fading into a soft sky-blue finish towards the forefoot.

The signature midfoot shank introduces a clever contrast by reversing the colour transition, creating additional visual depth across the silhouette. Elsewhere, Nike keeps the focus firmly on the upper by dressing the TPU cage overlays, mudguard, and midsole in black, allowing the warm-to-cool gradient effect to take centre stage.

While the design remains relatively simple compared to some of Nike's recent special-edition Air Max Plus releases, it perfectly captures the aesthetic that made the TN famous in the first place. The seamless blend of colours delivers a nostalgic feel while still offering something fresh for modern collectors.
